Agency Tech, from an Agency Owner.
Most agency tech consultants used to run an agency. I still do. Mine is ranked in the top 50 in the country with multiple carriers and is actively growing, and I build the AI and automation systems that keep it moving every day. I help other independent agencies do the same through automation fixes, project builds, and fractional tech leadership.
Three ways to move your agency forward
Rescue a broken automation, ship a scoped build, or bring on a fractional partner to run your tech stack with you.
Automation Rescue
Get your broken Zaps, stuck workflows, and half-finished automations working again within the week.
- Works across Zapier, Make, HubSpot, AgencyZoom, and native AMS automations
- Full diagnosis of what broke, why it broke, and how to prevent it
- Automation rebuilt, tested, documented, and walked through on Loom
- 90-day fix warranty. If our build breaks, we fix it free.
Flat $1,500 per fix. Delivered in 5 business days or your money back.
Custom Project Builds
Turn your biggest tech bottleneck into a working system, scoped, built, and deployed in two to four weeks.
- Automation and AI builds (renewals, chatbots, lead routing, voice AI, CRM workflows)
- Data cleanup, deduping, and standardization across your AMS, CRM, and carrier feeds
- Website optimization, self-service tools, and client portals
- Full architecture doc, team training on Loom, written documentation, and 30 days of post-launch support
Fixed fee, scoped before you pay. Starts at $1,000 and delivered in 2 to 4 weeks, or your deposit back.
Fractional Tech Partner
Stop guessing at tech decisions and buying tools you don't use. Get a dedicated tech leader running your stack, your builds, and your team training every month.
- Full tech audit and 12-month roadmap delivered in month one
- Biweekly strategy calls plus async Slack and email support with 24-hour response
- 15 hours a month of new builds, CRM cleanup, integrations, and system optimization
- Role-specific team training for CSRs, producers, and leadership, recorded for every new hire
$3,500 a month. 6-month minimum, month-to-month after. First automation deployed in week one.
Wondering what we can build for your agency? Here are a few recent examples we've shipped.
The problem: Most agencies run a legacy AMS plus a CRM, duct-taped together by integrations that half work. Policies live in one system, client communication in another, commissions in a third. Your team wastes hours a week re-entering the same information and nothing ever truly matches.
What we built: We took HubSpot and turned it into a full agency management system. Policies, clients, carriers, and commissions all live in one place. Automated policy download keeps the book current without anyone touching a keyboard. Renewal workflows, service ticketing, marketing automation, and reporting all run from the same platform.
The result: One source of truth across the agency. Producers and CSRs work out of a single tool, data stays clean, and we stopped paying for a legacy AMS on top of a CRM. The agency can actually report on itself for the first time in years.
The problem: Speed to lead wins business. The first agent who connects with the prospect usually gets the sale. Most agencies can't answer web forms or click-to-calls fast enough, especially outside business hours, and leads go cold or buy from a competitor.
What we built: An inbound flow through AgencyZoom that round-robin assigns every new lead to the right producer, then triggers an immediate sms to the prospect in that producer's own cloned tone and style. The lead gets a real-sounding conversation within minutes of submitting the form, gets qualified, and books a follow-up on the producer's calendar.
The result: Sub-five-minute response time on every lead, day or night, weekend or weekday. Producers walk into pre-qualified appointments instead of chasing cold forms.
The problem: Almost every P&C agency has hundreds of existing clients without life insurance. Cross-selling life is where real revenue lives, but producers never have the time to systematically work through the book. The opportunity just sits there year after year.
What we built: An AI agent that scans the AMS, finds every household without a life policy, pulls the relevant demographic and asset data, generates a REAL quote, and reaches out to the client on the producer's behalf. It handles the initial conversation, answers common questions, books appointments, and hands warm prospects back to the human when it's time to close, or can even complete the sale autonomously.
The result: An automated cross-sell engine running in the background. Life revenue is pulled from the existing book without adding producer hours. The agency's retention numbers go up as a side effect because multi-line clients stay longer.
Note: We can also do things like flood insurance in the same way.
The problem: CSRs and producers lose hours every week hunting for the right answer. Does this carrier write trampolines? What's the endorsement for a finished basement? What's the binding authority for monoline dwelling fire? The answers are buried in carrier appetite PDFs, underwriting guidelines, and Slack threads from three years ago. Senior producers get interrupted all day playing human search engine.
What we built: An AI knowledge base trained on the agency's actual documents: carrier appetite guides, underwriting rules, coverage references, state compliance notes, internal procedures, and sales scripts. Team members ask plain-English questions and get instant answers sourced directly from the source material, with links back to the original document.
The result: No more interrupting senior producers for lookups. New hires ramp in weeks, not months. The collective knowledge of the agency finally lives in one place instead of in ten people's heads.
The problem: When a storm rolls through, the first 24 hours matter. Agencies want to reach clients in the impact zone immediately with a check-in, claims guidance, and a reminder of how to file. Most agencies are stuck sorting their book manually by zip code, which is slow and inaccurate. A zip code isn't a storm path. Same issue for market analysis. You can't see where your book is concentrated or where you're underpenetrated without a real map.
What we built: A geographic overlay of the entire client book, pulled live from the AMS, with every client pinned on a map. A lasso tool lets you draw any shape on the map: a storm path, a hail swath, a target marketing area. The tool collects every client inside the drawn area and enrolls them in a pre-built AMS sequence with one click. Storm check-in, claims filing guide, renewal outreach, cross-sell campaign, whatever you've scoped.
The result: Same-day client outreach after a weather event, targeted to the exact impact zone. Clients feel seen, claims get filed faster, retention holds. For market analysis, leadership can see book concentration at a glance and spot expansion opportunities. What used to take hours of manual list-pulling happens in minutes.
The problem: Commission reconciliation is a weekly or monthly grind. Somebody (often the owner) opens each carrier statement, matches every line to a policy in the AMS, and hunts down the payments that don't add up. It takes hours of tedious work, and most agencies still leave money on the table because nobody has time to chase every discrepancy.
What we built: An AI pipeline that ingests carrier commission statements in any format (PDF, Excel, CSV), matches every line to the corresponding policy in the AMS, and flags anything that doesn't reconcile. Missing payments, short pays, wrong tier, wrong split. All surfaced automatically with the evidence attached.
The result: A week of manual reconciliation a month turned into a short review queue. The agency gets paid what it's actually owed, and the owner gets their Saturdays back.

I don't just consult on agency tech. I use it every day to run mine.
I've been in insurance since 2006, and in 2023, I purchased our family agency, Hutsenpiller Insurance, where we now have almost 20 employees writing and servicing thousands of policies. I build every automation, AI tool, and integration we use in-house. If it doesn't survive a Monday morning with real staff and real carriers, it doesn't make the cut, and that's the same standard I bring to every client.
Outside the agency, I sit on the board at 101 Weston Labs and have served on agency advisory councils for Encompass, Openly, and Grange. I speak at events like Soup Live, IndieTech, Accelerate, and Big I conferences across the country, and I'm plugged into Insurance Soup, the Collective Agency Council, Tacobot, and LARA.
At heart, I'm a builder. I got into insurance tech because I kept looking at our workflows and thinking there has to be a better way to do this, and then I'd stay up too late proving myself right. I genuinely believe independent agents have a massive advantage over the direct writers and online carriers if they get the technology piece right.
